Therapeutic Massage

What is Massage?

Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax both body and mind, and lower blood pressure. Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body. There are many different forms of massage, each with a slightly different emphasis. It is important for an individual to discuss health issues with a certified massage therapist to determine techniques and a therapy plan that will accommodate the goals needed for improved health. At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.

What to Expect as a Client:

It is best to have a minimum/or no caffeine in your system and only a light meal or snack. When you arrive, a Health Assessment Form is filled out, followed -up with any discussion indicated by the information provided. You will be taken to the treatment room and given privacy to undress and relax on the massage table with a sheet and blanket covering you. Soft music is generally playing, and the
temperature is geared for your comfort. During the massage, only the part of the body being massage is exposed. Healing and deep relaxation can occur during the session, and conversation is limited to comfort-related questions to assure maximum benefit. Essential oils are used to enhance your treatment. Upon completion of your massage, you will have time alone to reflect and get dressed. Clients may experience an emotional release during treatment, and discussion
following the session, is not uncommon. Your payment is processed, and drinking water throughout the rest of the day is necessary to promote the flushing of toxins. You may schedule another appointment at this time.
